Clinic receives designation as a Community Health Center

Traverse Health Clinic is thrilled to have received word that we have received designation as a Community Health Center. “This designation allows us to receive annual grant funds from the federal government which will help us expand services. It has been a long and challenging road navigating all the changes that health reform has brought to our community clinic, “stated Arlene Brennan, Traverse Health Clinic’s Executive Director. “We worked very hard to achieve this, for it will allow the Clinic to continue providing necessary health services to many in our community.”

Every week, the Clinic currently sees 15-20 new people coming for care. “We know we will be serving even greater numbers of people beginning in 2014. While this designation will bring grant funding annually to the Clinic, it will initially be helpful to in part replace $1 million in funds lost due to The Affordable Care Act. Community support will continue to be an important part of what we are able to do,” stated Sherri Fenton, Development and Marketing Director at Traverse Health Clinic. “Additional funds remain critical to the Clinic’s ability to deliver affordable health services to those most in need in our region. Together with continued community support, this designation and ensuing grant will further prepare us to continue as the region’s primary care safety net, providing more individuals and families with access to high quality affordabel health care now and in the future.”
